  HOW THE ORGANIZATION HAS LASTED THIS LONG...

  this is in response to a post i did on another thread about the borg not having as much swagger as they used to.

  it was suggested that i post it under a new topic so here it is.

  it's a brief summary of the decades and how they've managed to get away with claiming that 'the end' is nigh for over 130 years now.

  Mary, Thank you for that review on how the organization has lasted so long.

  For me and many others, we stayed throughout it all because we were "Captives Of a Concept." The concept that there existed a 'Faithful and Discreet Slave' appointed by Jesus himself after examing the organization way back there in 1919.

  Now we know that is not true and so many have yet to realize that this concept is holding them captive.

  Little by little articles like the one you have shared with us are opening the eyes and minds of those who have been sitting on the fence so to speak and are now making their move away from the organization, even though it has caused us so much pain and emotional suffering with our loved ones.

  WT :They Don't Even Know the Bible!

  we may argue about doctrine but sometimes the watchtower and awake magazines suggest that their writers are simple minded hacks who don't really know the bible as an objective subject.

  i say this because of glaring omissions that often occur.. example: some years ago, the watchtower hierarchy legislated that no one should clap when a disfellowshipped person is announced as reinstated.

  in discussions about this, they never brought up the bible account about the prodigal son and his father's reaction to his return!

  Hi Metatron! You always have something interesting to share with us, and for that I want to thank you. You are spot on with this one. Rejoicing is mentioned in the Bible many times. Another example of this is the 100 Sheep, one is lost, The Sheperd leaves the 99 and goes searching for the one that is lost and when finding it, rejoices! Good catch Metatron.

  What is the Truth? How do you Define it?

  jws teach that 'accurate knowledge' is the definition of truth.

  they add to this by saying that the 'conduct' of average church goers also identifies them as not being in the 'truth.

  ' and, they define their 'organization' as being the truth, because they are a clean people who are doing right works, and teaching accurately.

  Amazing is it true that we are a product of our culture?

  That where we were born and what we were taught becomes our truth?

  For example, suppose we born in China, that would make us Chinese.

  Then we would be taught a chinese culture that would involve a religous teaching that would be the truth for us in China.

  The same would go for where ever one was born and raised on earth.

  Of course one could abandoned their culture and what they were taught and learn that what they were originally taught was no longer the truth that they thought it was .

  Another example:In short. I was born into the Catholic faith. A knock on the door changed that for me. The Watchtower Society had a lock on what is the real truth and I accepted it over my Catholic upbringing.

  Some 33 years later, I come to an awakening that they don't have the truth.

  25 years a Catholic, 33 years a JW, 6 years later at the age of 64, I still cannot answer your two questions.

  Are You Surprised That Some "Intelligent" People Still Are Witnesses?

  i know some very sharp men and women that remain as jws and that perplexes me at times.

  i even know of a jw whose daughter got molested by her jw ministerial servant uncle and she still believes this is the "truth", even though she took her family member to court and won!.

  i don't get it..

  No I am not suprised. When you say "STILL" I think of myself. I along with millions of other intelligent men and women were, unknown to us at the time, captives of a concept. Many intelligent ones "STILL" are held captive to a concept.

  Mini, you and the many here are no longer captives of that concept. In time, many more will escape from that mindset.

  What is the most important scripture in jw theology?

  What is the most important event in jw history?

  Those two questions will be the conversation stopper. Don't let them continue with any questions from the society outline.

  Elsewhere, and Amazing, Alan F wrote an article on God's Justice: Sin, Imperfection, and The Ransom Sacrifice. You can find it on the link "Research On The Watchtower" It is one of, if not the best response to this type of question. I found the article to be an answer that the Society or anyone else has yet to rebutt.

  Why not do it again for us? No snapshot.

  Snapshots / Photos can be doctored.

  Now, a real demonstration of the real Christ, no trickery, no Devil, still, in this day and age Skeptics abound.

  CURSE GOD AND DIE...

  ever feel like you just wanna give up?

  i'm losing my job at the end of this month.

  because of the financial situation in the world, there's a hiring freeze on both internally and externally and hardly any positions are coming up.

  MARY! We are very sad for you. It's happening all around us.

  Let me tell you a little story: Both my wife and I are in our sixties and retired and still have to keep working to make ends meet.

  Thanks to the Watchtower Society and their never ending "Carrot".

  She works part time and I work fulltime. So far we both have our jobs to keep us going.

  We have maybe 15 years left of life yet ( that will take us into our eighties ) to live. Like many other old-timers who gave about 30 to 40 years of their life to a promise with a catch we are left with no pension, little savings and when we lose the jobs we now have, no return to the work force as we will be considered to old to hire.

  We are barely hanging on and not in the best of health. I tell you this not to make comparisons, just to share our anxieties with you.

  We feel for you and do hope things will turn around for the better for you.

  We have always been helped by your many topics and post responses over the years. We hope you will continue to post and share with us your goings on and thoughts. As to the lost of the love of your life,may you find love again.
